Memories - Sketchabilities #152

Hallo there to all my crafty friends.  It is the time of the month to reveal the August Sketchabilities sketch and the design team's inspiration.  I love the inspiration sketches gives and it takes all the heavy lifting out of a design.  I used a photo of my daughter and Amarins, a student from the Netherlands that did her internship at the Mission.  Here is my page:

Supplies used:  Patterned paper:  Lady Pattern Paper, Prima, Bazzil Vellum, Felicity Jane;  Cardstock:  Watercolour paper; Chipboard Title:  Celebr8,  Dangle: Blue Fern Studios; Flowers:  Prima; Enamel dots:  My Minds Eye; Embroidery Floss:  DMC; Ink:  Distress Oxide (picked raspberry, fossilized amber);Embossing Powder:  WOW, Lindy's Gang; Stencil: Prima; Texture Paste:  Finnabair;  Other:  Doily, sisal.

 Some close ups:
I have been wanting to make my own watercolour background using the awesome distress oxides for ages.  I used Picked Raspberry and Fossilized Amber and blended them together with a dauber and a wet paintbrush.

I then applied texture paste through a stencil to the watercoloured areas.  I wanted it to be the bottom layer and tore a Prima patterned paper to "reveal" the coloured areas.  I then decided to add vellum as another layer between the patterned paper and the watercolour paper.  I distressed the torn edges and rolled it back.

I then added my paper stack.  I heat embossed the frame of chipboard titles with glitter embossing powder and added it between my layers.  I made a little nest with the sisal strands and then glued it in place using my flowers.

A page wouldn't be complete without the journaling and I wanted to document the impact Amarins had on us as a family and on the Mission.

The bottom watercolouring.  I loved this process and I am pretty sure that I will be using this technique again very soon.

I finished off the clusters by adding some gold enamel dots.

At this angle you can see the shiny bits and the dimension on the page.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I hope that you are inspired to play along with us this month at Sketchabilities.
