Altered little cardboard box - Finnabair

Hi there.  I think that I have mentioned that the Mixed Media bug has bitten me and I just love getting my hands dirty.  I have been binge watching process YouTube videos and there is so many artists out there that are sharing their processes with us.  In this instance I give credit to Ola Khomenok who shared her process on YouTube.

This is my completed project.

This was what the little box looked like...pretty!

After a good coat of white gesso.

Some of the elements I planned to use.

The Mixed Media products that I used.

The embellishments that I made with moulds and paper clay was used to create some dimension to the lid.  Most of this will be covered up.

I next added some sisal and some pretty Blue Fern Studios chipboard that was also coated in gesso.

I added an uneven layer of white crackle paste...just look at those yummy cracks.

Finally I added the flowers  I also mixed some art stones and mini art stones with soft gel medium and applied it on the sides of the box and on the flowers and the sisal.

I then mixed some water with acrylic paints allowing the paint to run on the sides.  I heat set it and the colour is now permanent.

I love all the texture but I should have kept the chipboard white.  Hind site hey!?

I love all the texture that the art stones add to the project.

Another close up of the texture and colour and you can also see the height of the embellishing on the lid.

Thank you for visiting my blog today ♥  I hope you are inspired to get your hands dirty and try something new.

  2. Hey special lady ... That looks awesome ~ The details are stunning ... Well done. I hope you keep it on show and love it more each time you look at it.

I am a girl who doesn't like getting her hands dirty (that's why I don't garden) so although this looks beautiful I will leave it up to you to experiment and will adore your creations from afar. My passions right now are scrapbooking (on the page - might get a little paste or paint on my hands :) but that's about it) and crocheting ~ which of course is a totally clean hands exercise.
