Believe - Felicity Jane (Heidi) - CSI248/Stuck

Hallo there.  I was thrilled to see that Stuck sketches have two sketches for their 15 February challenge.  I decided to combine the second sketch with the 15 February Color Story Inspiration challenge.  I decided that I will go more freestyle where the CSI challenge is concerned as I wanted to use the Felicity Jane Heidi kit and the colours aren't an exact match for the colour swatches in the I am allowing myself some creative license ;-)  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Felicity Jane (Heidi); Cardstock:  American Craft; Chipboard title:  Blue Fern Studios; Rubber heart charms:  Felicity Jane; Flair:  Felicity Jane; Enamel dots: Nuvo Crystal Drops (Ebony Black); Die cuts:  Felicity Jane (Heidi), Tassels:  Felicity Jane; Embroidery Floss: DMC; Mixed Media:  Wendy Vecchi embossing paste, Distress Ink (Tattered rose, worn lipstick); Stencil:  Prima; Border punch:  Fiskars:  Stamp:  Felicity Jane; Other:  Doily from stash.

Laura's beautiful sketch:

Colour Story Inspiration 248:
This is how I solved the case file:

The Scene:  I was inspired by the soft colours of the case file.
The Scheme:  I kept to the general soft feel of the scheme but replaced the green for teals.
Evidence:  Solid white background, floral patterns, hearts, flowers, leaves, string.
Testimony:  I chose one of the February prompts:  ""My biggest hope is..." and my journaling is a quote by Benjamin Spock:  "My greatest hope is to bring up children inspired by their opportunities for being helpful and loving."  Our life calling is to bring hope to the rejected, discarded and broken people in our has always been my dream that my children will in some way make a difference in the lives of people who have fallen on hard times.

Some close ups:
I mixed Distress Inks in Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick into embossing paste and added it to the background through a Prima stencil.

The black and white flowers were fussy cut from an older Felicity Jane paper....I wish I can get another 20 pages of that pattern.

The chipboard title was heat embossed in Bright White WOW embossing powder...and the little tassels were first coloured with Prima Color Bloom Spray and then tied to the title.

The little Tim Holtz phrases are covering up a boo boo made with the Nuvo Crystal live and learn.

I am really happy with the end result.

Fantastic Summer - July 2017 Hip Kit - Stuck/CSI247

Hallo there.  Today I am combining to challenges.  I love the CSI247 challenge with it's tropical feel and I am combining it with the Stuck 15 February challenge.  The July 2017 Hip Kit is a stunner with a lot of Hip Kit exclusives and a real tropical feel.  I decided on a photo that was taken in January in Mauritius of my oldest son and his three children (my grandchildren) in the gorgeous turquoise ocean.  Here is my page:

Supplies used:  Patterned papers:  Illustrated Faith(Make your mark), Hip Kit Exclusive (Irit Landgraaf), Paige Evans (Oh my heart), Dear Lizzy (lovely day), Maggie Holmes (Chasing Dreams); Cardstock:  American Craft; Wood veneer:  Hip Kit Exclusives; Chipboard:  Hip Kit Exclusives; Epoxy stickers:  Hip Kit Exclusives; Clip: Illustrated Faith (Make your Mark); Enamel dots:  Nuvo Crystal drops (Bright Gold); Texture paste:  Wendy Vecchi; Ink:  Distress Oxide (Salty Ocean);  Stencil: Prima; Border die: Fiskars.

The CSI 247  case file:

This is how I solved the case:

The Scene and Scheme:  I loved the tropical feel and the lovely colours that makes up the scene and scheme and I believe that my layout reflect that.

Evidence:  Solid white background, floral patterns (fussy cut for flowers), mixed media background, flowers, hearts, leaves.

Testimony:  I documented a summer memory of my son  and his family's vacation in Mauritius at the beginning of this year.

Some close ups:
I first mixed some embossing paste with Distress Oxide (Salty Ocean) and then applied the coloured paste through a Prima stencil.  I love the texture it gives and the colour that is reflected in the photo.

I made a tag from a card on the cut apart sheet of Illustrated faith and added a fussy cut flower to the top cluster.

I combined some fussy cut flowers and Hip Kit Exclusive chipboard, wood veneer, puffy stickers and epoxy stickers.

The cool epoxy "fantastic" and wood veneer "summer"  are both part of the exclusives in the kit and makes the perfect title.  I made my own enamel dots with gold Nuvo crystal drops.

Here you can see the dimension and the texture better.

I hope you were inspired to take part in one of the challenges...or both :-)

Dancing Queen - August 2017 Hip Kit - Kraft+ challenge

Hallo there,  I see that the February challenge at Kraft+  is using ABBA or an ABBA song as your inspiration.  Last year in October my granddaughter Leane was awarded the Dancing Diva of 2017 at their Hip Hop competition.  I decided that this would be the ideal challenge to scrap photos of her in her Hip Hop outfit.  I used the August 2017 Hip Kit which is made up of the Maggie Holmes Carousel collection.  Here is my page:
Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel); Cardstock:  American Craft; Letter Stickers: Hip Kit exclusives; Chipboard:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel); Star sequins:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel); Puffy Stickers:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel); Enamel dots: My Minds Eye; Enamel hearts:  Bella Blvd; Die cuts:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel); Washi:  Bella Blvd; Embroidery Floss:  DMC; White Gesso:  Finnabair; Stencil:  Prima; Dies:  Sizzix circle die; Other:  Twinkling H2O (Solar Gold)

The Inspiration:

I used an old Page Map:

Some close ups:
I first did the stenciling with a Prima Stencil and some white gesso.

This sketch challenged me to stagger my photos at an angle.  That is really a challenge as I like linear straight lines.  But I am happy with the result.  I cut the glittery frame and the pink label in half to use in two spots around my photos.

Lyrics from the song.  Just perfect to document Leane's dancing achievement.

I tied some string around the little flag and don't you just love that exclusive alpha?

I splattered Solar Gold Twinkling H2O around the page to add some more gold to the page.

...and as usual I had to do a bit of sewing.

Laughter - August 2017 Hip Kit - Stuck sketches

Hallo there.  I am sharing a layout today using the August 2017 Hip Kit which is made up mostly of Maggie Holmes Carousel.  I used the 1 February 2018 Stuck sketch.  The photo was taken on my birthday in January and it was the perfect opportunity to get a photo of Kobus and I with our precious grandchildren.  Here is the page.

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel), Pink Paislee; Cardstock:  American Craft; Wood Veneer:  Studio Calico; Chipboard title:  Blue Fern Studios; Tag:  Hip Kit project life card; Buttons:  Hip Kit Exclusives; Die Cuts:  Maggie Holmes (Carousel); Embroidery Floss: DMC; Heart Stencil:  Heidi Swapp; Mists:  Prima Colour Bloom (Storm Cloud & Gold Foil); Embossing powder:  Tsukineko (gold); Other:  Nuvo Crystal drops (Ebony black)

The sketch:

Some close ups:
I misted the Storm Cloud through a stencil onto my white background cardstock...and then I spritzed some Gold Foil Colour Bloom Spray as an added layer.

I love the striped black and white patterned paper and I gutted the center and used only the edges as a frame.  The black and white florals were also fussy cut from a patterned paper.

Our son Wynand pulled all kinds of funny faces to get this reaction from our little ones.  I layered a doily from my stash among the paper layers.

I hand stitched around the edges of the white cardstock with some variegated DMC embroidery floss.  The black enamel dots are Nuvo Crystal drops....and I am still struggling to get my drops perfectly round.

The chipboard title and wood veneer hearts were all heat embossed in gold.  I love to show the dimension and sparkly bits with a photo taken at this angle.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today ♥♥

Wonderful Moments - September 2017 Hip Kit - Paige Evans (Turn the Page)

Hallo there,  I am making regular time to create and recharge.  I came to the scary conclusion this week.  If I never buy another piece of paper or embellishment, I will not be able to use up my stash in this lifetime.  I need to get into my stash and create...and that is what I am challenging myself with this year.  Here is the page I made:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Paige Evans (Turn the Page), Shimelle (Glitter Girl); Cardstock:  American Craft; Letter Stickers:  Hip Kit Exclusives; Wood Veneer:  Studio Calico; Chipboard:  Paige Evans (Turn the Page); Stickers:  Paige Evans (Turn the Page); Star Puffy stickers:  Bella Blvd; Enamel dots:  My Minds Eye; Die cuts:  Paige Evans (Turn the Page); Embroidery Floss:  DMC; Ink:  Distress Ink (Broken China); Stencil: Tim Holtz (Bubble); Distress Markers (Broken China and Barn Door); Dies:  Sizzix circle framelits, Quickutz Stars.

The sketch by Laura:
 Some close ups:

I love loads of paper layers and some soft distress inking on the background.

This was die ideal way to use the paper planes...and I  sketched in the paths they flew with Distress Markers.

 A combination of stars.

I love to scrap special moments...and these faces is something I want to remember.

A little embellishment cluster in the bottom corner completes the page.
