Wild thing - CSI 241

Hallo there.  I have had this page lying unfinished on my work space for ages.  I eventually finished it this past weekend and want to upload it before this CSI challenge closes.  I like to challenge myself to do the Color Story Inspiration challenges because it takes me out of my comfort zone where colour choices are concerned and I have to think outside my box to include the evidence and testimony that it requires.  This is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Yellow and Woodgrain (Crate Paper), Red stripe (My Minds Eye) Script (Amy Tan Plus One), Vellum: Studio Calico; Cardstock:  American Craft; Letter Stickers:  American Craft paperback fabric stickers; Chipboard: Blue Fern Studio; Gears:  Finnabair Mechanicals, Enamel chevrons:  My Mind Eye; Puffy Stars:  Bella BLVD, Stickers:   Echo Park; Embroidery Floss:  DMC; Mists: Prima Bloom Storm Cloud; Other Mediums:  Texture Paste, Rust Paste (Finnabair); Stencil:  The crafters workshop; Stamp:  Studio Calico.

The Color Story Inspiration case file:

This is how I solved the case file:

Sketch:  used

The Scheme:  All 5 colours used.

Evidence:  stripes, stars, woodgrain, chevron arrows, vellum

Testimony:  i dded stars to my journaling spot.

Some close ups:
I stenciled grey mist through a stencil and added a layer of vellum behind my page.

 Stamped chevrons and enamel chevrons.

The rust technique on the Blue Fern Chipboard is what I enjoyed most about this layout.  I just love the effect it adds to the chipboard.

I have had these alphabet stickers in my stash for many good to see it on a page.

The stars added to the journaling spot.

I used texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil to create the stripes on the yellow paper.

The Finnabair mechanical gears are the perfect addition.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  Do play along with these challenges if you want to make a dent in your stash.

Delight - May 2017 Hip Kit - Stuck sketches

Hallo there.  I had so much fun today in my studio.  I was so in the mood to play with pretty papers and at the same time take part in the Stuck sketch for 1 November 2017.  I used a beautiful photo that I took with my cell phone when we were on our last leg of the Secret Scrapbook Event 2017.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Dear Lizzy (Lovely Day); Cardstock:  American Craft; Wood Veneer: Hip Kit Exclusives; Chipboard: Celebr8; Metal charm: Upikit; Flair: Feed your Craft; Enamel dots:  Echo Park; Die cuts:  Dear Lizzy (Lovely Day); Embroidery Floss: DMC; Texture Paste: Daler Rowney; Stencil: Tim Holtz; Embossing Powder:  Wow Rose Gold; Other:  Silhouette Cameo (the scallop border).

Laura's lovely sketch:

Some Close ups:
I used a chipboard frame that I heat embossed with rose gold embossing powder.  Lots of layers with among others a doily from my stash, a Dear Lizzy camera die cut and a flair layered over top.

I applied some texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil and the decision to use rose gold for the heat embossing was made because of the rose gold in the layered hot air balloon.

I  heat embossed the delicate wood veneer words with rose gold as well.  I made the tag with a scrap of paper and the little metal hot air balloon charm was in my stash and by Upikit.

A page just wouldn't be complete without a bit of hand stitching.

This photo shows you more dimension and the sparkly bits.

Thank you for visiting my blog today♥♥  I hope you found a bit of inspiration.

Love this - Felicity Jane Mila - Stuck sketches

Hallo there,  This past weekend I created a page based on the Stuck sketches challenge.  I used a photo collage that Elizna made of photos taken at the Secret Event in Bloemfontein.  I love the soft colours of the Mila kit to showcase this photo.

Supply list:  Felicity Jane Mila kit; Chipboard butterfly:  Blue Fern studio; Flowers:  Celebr8; Embroidery Floss: DMC; Ink:  Distress Ink (Tattered Rose);  Stencil:  Prima.

Laura Whitaker's sketch:

Some close ups:
I used the cute little heart paper clips on the photo and the banner, the washi is also in the kit.  The "work + play + balance"is from the stamp set in the kit.

I love the softness the delicate doily brings to the page.  I matted the photo on the cardstock in the kit.  I initially wanted to put a circular chipboard shape behind the photo but opted for some stitching instead.

The chipboard butterfly was heat embossed in gold embossing powder.

The tag on the bottom left is bordered with shiny gold and although the photo doesn't show it the washi tape also has gold hearts on it.

I decided to use on of the Project life cards as part of the title and matted it on the blue and pink cardstock in the kit.
Here you can see the sparkly bits.

Toys of Rust - Felicity Jane Heidi

Hallo there,  I am showcasing a photo that was taken in July 2013 when we visited the wine lands of Cape Town.  On the stoep of the Fairview Wine Estate they had a motorcycle that was entirely made up of rusted pieces.  Kobus is always the one to play the fool and pose for pictures.  I thought that the colours of the patterned papers in the Heidi kit would compliment the subject perfectly.  The title is a play on the name of the toy store Toy's R Us.  Here is my page:
Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Felicity Jane Heidi kit; Cardstock:  American Craft; Rusted metal embellishments:  Finnabair Mechanicals; Embroidery Floss:  DMC; Ink: Ranger Archival Ink.

I used this sketch by Laura Whitaker for My Creative Scrapbook:

Some close ups:
I used the stamps in the kit to make embellishments to add to my layers.

I really love how well co-ordinated these Felicity Jane kits are.

I added some rusted Prima Mechanicals as embellishments.

As you know I cannot resist stitching on my pages...and Laura has stitched elements in many of her sketch designs.

I know the plans I have for you - SSE2017 - Just Because

Hallo there,  today I am sharing a bonus page I made with the Just Because range that Cariena designed for the Scrapbook Studio Secret Event 2017.  This page was made for the papers that Cariena used for her class.

I used a cut file that you can download free on  I backed the cut file with different papers from the collection.  I stenciled distress ink through a stencil around the edges and mounted it on a ombre paper from the collection.

Some close ups:
I cut tags and various elements from the cut apart sheet to use as embellishments.

The butterflies were also cut from a patterned paper and popped up with foam dots.

I stitched around the cardstock for extra texture.

The leaves were cut using a Prima die and some of the green patterned paper.

I love the elements in this collection...there is just so many ideas for layouts.

I just love the simplicity of this design.

To purchase this collection visit Scrapbook Studio's online store.  Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Scrapbook Studio's Secret Scrapbook Event 2017

Hi there.  In September and beginning of October I taught at  the Scrapbook Studio Secret Event that took us across the country and away from home for 17 days. It was a honour to work with Cariena's new "Just Because" paper range and paper custom made to compliment my style. This was my class layout:

Some close ups:

I stencilled some stars through a stencil with some antique linen distress ink on the bottom half of the white background.

The chipboard title was painted with Twinkling H2O's and the ombre effect was created.

Light molding paste was applied through the same stencil onto the ombre paper to create a soft additional texture.

Some hand stitching completes the page.

The bonus take home page:

Some close ups:
I love the ombre papers in this collection.  This page includes a lot of fussy cutting, some splattering of gold Twinkling H2O's and some stitching.

This bright and happy collection really makes me happy.
 Fussy cut hearts and flowers.

 A pretty doily peeking out.

The chipboard heart was painted with Twinkling H2O's.
