Stefan's 4th birthday

Hi there,  We have been in Plettenberg Bay since Saturday.  I was so tired that by the time we left home I was on autopilot...so very close to burn out.  Since we have been here it has really been a cycle of EAT. BEACH. READ. SLEEP. REPEAT.  Our day starts with a long walk on the beach...a quick shower followed by breakfast.  The weather has been glorious so we have spent our days sitting on the lawn of the hotel reading...then it is an afternoon nap followed by a decision of where to eat.  I have started to breathe deeply again.

This is the view from our unit...and this will always be my happy place.

Before we left on Saturday we celebrated Stefan's 4th birthday.  The theme of his birthday was "Robots" and for weeks he drove us crazy with the question of when he is getting his Robot cake.

The birthday boy.

My Silhouette Cameo worked overtime in making the decor.  This banner was on our front gate.

 The Robot cake

 Spare Parts

 Nuts and bolts

What I love about our home being the "party venue" is that I always get some beautiful shots of my grandchildren.  Here is my wild princess.

She is growing up way to quickly.

The party packs, robot stickers and pop corn boxes were all cut on the Silhouette Cameo.

The moment he has been waiting for forever :-P

 Getting a sugar rush.

The only time they were actually quiet.

 The three musketeers.

The little ones had loads of fun playing on the jungle gym

 ...and discovering.

My gorgeous boys Lukas and Dewan first giving their Ouma pretty smiles...

 ...and then some funny faces.

The perfect party venue...with lots of nooks and crannies.

Rediscovering how much fun it is at Oupa and Ouma's place.

 Son Wynand and grandson Lukas.

 Another fun photo.

...nothing has changed with Stefan and Juan...always being funny and refusing to make eye contact or smile...

...they do the "bum shaking"thing the moment the camera comes out :-D

...okay too close...but at least proper smiles.

 Dewan...separating himself from the crowd.

A thoughtful moment...maybe deciding to play along and let Ouma have a good smile?

This little man just has the most beautiful dimples.

I would love to know what is going through that little head.

This afternoon we drive back to Port Elizabeth. We made a slight miscalculation when we booked ticked to see the Chris de Burgh show and it will now mean two less days in Plett.  My darling man sold my car last week and tomorrow morning we fly to Durban where he bought my next car.  So there really is never a dull moment in my life.

Thank you for visiting ♥♥

This Moment - CSI 196

Hi dear friends.  I know that I haven't been around...it has been hectic and as you know I work full time.  When I get home in the late afternoon, it is still the usual schedule of getting food on the table even if I just feel like crashing on the couch.  Believe you me...should I decide to take time out and crash, my family will have to go without food...and then I wouldn't be very popular :-P

Wynand started working this week and have recovered fully from the flu.  His energy levels are still low and he gets tired quickly...but getting stamina will take some time...and that is okay.  Fortunately he works for us at the Mission and can be sent home when he gets tired.  This week I will still work hard but it will be worth it, because on Saturday we leave for a week vacation in Plettenberg Bay.  Have you noticed that I seriously need a break :-)

Anyway...I want to share a layout I made last weekend for the latest Color Story Inspiration case file 196.  I love it when I can kill some of my stash and with this page I finally killed the Fancy Pants "Be You"collection.  The challenge was to document something funny and I chose photos of Stefan playing with his food for this page.

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Fancy Pants Be You; Cardstock: American Craft:  Chipboard Title:  Blue Fern Studios; Wood Veneer: Cocoa Vanilla; Banner Stickers: Sassafras; Ephemera:  Cocoa Vanilla: Buttons: Cocoa Vanilla: Woodies: Jillibean Soup; Enamel dots: My Minds Eye, Cocoa Vanilla; Light bulb: Prima; Die:  Quickutz doily die. Sketch: Allison Davis.

The case file:
This is how I solved the case file:

The Scheme: Used all 5 colours

Evidence: stripes, robot, technology accent (light bulb), circles, cogs/gears

Testimony: I chose to document something funny...and that is my grandson Stefan playing with his food: My journaling is on the page and reads as follows: This Moment gives a whole new meaning to playing with your food. Stefan, you have never been fond of eating. A lot needs to happen before you are convinced that you need to eat. So the end justifies the means even if it means that playing will eventually lead to eating.

So close ups:
I recently discovered the Cocoa Vanilla goodies and I am seriously in love.  A friend was visiting her daughter in Sydney and I ordered some of the embellishments to be delivered to her... with our pathetic local currency I wouldn't have been able to afford it if I still had to pay an additional $40 shipping.  I combined these cute embellishments with things I had in my stash.

I painted the Blue Fern chipboard title brown and used it as a start for my journaling.  The little wooden veneer light bulb is also by Cocoa Vanilla.

Yup...I am still into using this cool typewriter font for journaling strips.

I cut three doilies and the two frames from Fancy Pants papers. I just love all the circle embellishments.

The cute little robot is also part of the Cocoa Vanilla Totally Rad collection.

Another little doily cluster..."true original"chipboard is by Fancy Pants.

I love how this page turned out.  There is just some stories that need to be told on a double page layout...and this is one of those stories.

Thank you for visiting my blog...I hope to blog hop when I am relaxing in Plettenberg Bay next week ♥♥

Happiness is Homemade

Hi there.  Today I want to share a double page layout I made recently using photos of my one and only granddaughter Leane.  I used the Teresa Collins Daily Stories collection.  I still love my double page layouts because they tell such a great story.

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Teresa Collins Daily Stories; Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard Title:  Celebr8; Stickers: Teresa Collins; Brads: Teresa Collins; Flowers: Prima; Butterfly dimensional stickers: Teresa Collins; Enamel dots; Teresa Collins; Sketch: Allison Davis.

I love working with collections that gives you so much options for embellishments.

I found that these Prima blooms from the Bella Rouge collection is a perfect match for this collection.

The photos were taken two years ago on Stefan's second birthday.

I love all the different butterflies in this collection.

Celebr8 always have the perfect titles.  I painted this one black and the heart red...happiness is really homemade.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend ♥
