Cozy - October Hip kit - Keurbooms River

I am sitting in front of our caravan with this beautiful view.  We arrived at the Keurbooms Forever Resort on Friday and it is just such a chilled and relaxing place to be...or so we thought.  On Sunday morning the six of us set off on a walk in the area.
Wynand took this "Selfie" of us to document our holiday together.   A few moments later Wynand ran to catch up with Lukas who was riding his bicycle and at full speed he slipped and fell.  He couldn't get up and a park ranger came to our aid and transported us back to our camping site.  The pain was gradually getting worse and we decided that Wynand is going to need some medical attention.  We drove to Knysna's Life private hospital.

After having x-rays it was found that his leg was dislocated and it needed to be put back under anesthetics.   At that stage the specialist was 90% sure that Wynand is going to need surgery as the ball of his hip joint had a fracture.  Wynand was then sent for a CT scan to ascertain how serious the fracture is.  We set about contacting all our intercessors and prayer warriors to pray for a miracle.  Wynand's leg was put in traction and he had to stay overnight until the specialist could get a second opinion.

I marvel at this son of mine's soft and gentle nature.  This  could have meant the end of our holiday as further surgery would have had to be done in Port Elizabeth.  His trust was completely in the Lord.  He is a living miracle and has seen the Lord work miracles with odds lower than 10%.  On Monday he called us...the specialist in Port Elizabeth said that further surgery would be a waste of time and money and would just result in a "pretty"  x-ray.  Now we are back next to the river and Wynand is gaining strength in using his leg daily.

Now onto something scrap related.

I absolutely adore scrapping my loved ones.  Besides the therapy I get from just being creative...reliving memories are just so awesome.  I scrapped another page of our grandson Lukas with his Fat Cat.  Here is the page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Dear Lizzy (Saturday), Pink Paislee (Paige Evans), Maggie Holmes(Gather);  Cardstock: American Craft; Letter Stickers: American Craft:  Wood veneer; Jillibean Soup; Chipboard: Cat: WeR Memory Keepers (Tiffany), Heidi Swapp; Stickers: WeR Memory Keepers; Brads: Simple stories; Flair: Fancy Pants: Rub ons: Jen Hadfield; Buttons: Crate Paper; Enamel Dots; My Minds Eye; Rubber Charm: Pink Fresh Studio; Die cuts: Dear Lizzy (Saturday); Embroidery Floss: DMC Variegated; Circle cut file: Just Nick; Other: Silhouette Cameo.

I used this sketch:

Some close ups:
I cut a tiny circle to compliment the larger one for the cluster at the top left of the page.  I also added a gold rub on to compliment the one I added at the bottom right cluster.

Yes...there has to be some stitching.

I love digging into my embellishments to make little clusters.  A page is just not the same without the sprinkles.

I have to tell you the story of this little cat.  She has been sitting in my stash since 2009 when she was part of the WeR Memory Keepers Tiffany she found her home.

A few little tags, enamel dots and the title to round of the page.

Thank you for visiting my page today and leaving some love ♥♥

Beloved - July Hip Kit

Hi there.  Me again with another page.  I really adore this patterned paper that I used for my background and wanted to showcase it again by just using a Just Nick cut file so that the beautiful ombre colours peek through.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Hip Kit Exclusives July; Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard title: Celebr8; Cipboard Frame: Blue Fern studios (Floral Medley Frame);  Tag: Crate Paper; Flowers: Prima; Brads: My Minds Eye; Buttons: Crate Paper; Enamel hearts: Doodlebug, Illustrated Faith; Die cuts: Hip Kit Exclusives; Embroidery Floss: DMC; Ink: Dew Drop Graphite Black; Stickels: Black Diamond; Silhouette Cut File: Just Nick; Embossing Powder: Tsukineko Gold.

Some close ups:
I made the little cluster at the top right to balance the layout.  I first had the title below the photo stack but moved it to the top.  The title chipboard was inked in black and that covered with stickles.

I love the way the frame peeks out behind the photo stack and I used quite a lot of different patterned papers to create the photo stack.

...and of course some stitching.  This photo of Kobus and I were taken at our Eerste River Scrapbook Retreat in February this year.

I coloured some Prima flowers with Color Bloom mist to match the papers and then toned it down with some gesso.

A few buttons, enamel hearts and rubber charms and there we go.

Every Summer has a beautiful Story - July Hip Kit

Hello there,  this time of the year is our busiest.  There is so much happening at the Mission. Christmas parties, we have to clear all the premises where we get recycling from before the factories shut down for the Christmas season....then there is all the end of year events.  This week we have functions 5 out of 6 days.  On top of that the auditors chose this period to do their annual audit of the Mission's financials.  HECTIC doesn't even begin to describe it.

I snatched some time in between all of this to make this layout based on the latest Stuck sketch challenge.  I do so love Laura's sketches.  Here is the page I made:

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Illustrated Faith, Simple Stories, Hip Kit Exclusives: Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard Title:  Bella Blvd;  Chipboard: Blue Fern Studio (birds on a wire); Project life card: Hip Kit Exclusives; Flowers: Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Rubber charms: Amy Tangerine; Flair: Hip Kit Exclusive; Puffy Stickers: Hip Kit Exclusives; Enamel hearts; Illustrated Faith; Die cuts: Hip Kit Exclusives; Embroidery Floss: DMC Variegated; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Squeezed Lemonade and Peacock Feathers; Mist: Prima Color Bloom (Summer Sky); Other: Embossing Powder: Lindy's Twilight Jade Slate; border punch: Martha Stewart; Leaf punch: Upikit; Stencil: Crafters Workshop:  Star Die Cut:  Silhouette Store.

Laura's sketch:

Some close ups:
I first misted stars onto the white cardstock to break the white background.  I heat embossed the "birds on a wire"chipboard.  I adore this starry Silhouette Store cut and love how it looks on the rainbow paper.

After placing my die cut star on my background, I pierced holes for the hand sewing.

I coloured the white "summer" title with the yellow and blue distress ink.

Then it was just the clustering.  I tried to get the three main colours I used in each cluster.

I love it when a Project Life card becomes the perfect title.

That is all for today folks...I hope you have a wonderful weekend. ♥♥

You & Me - October Hip Kit

Hi there....I just love it when a photo speaks volumes.  A few weeks ago we had breakfast with Wynand, Nadia and Lukas.  If you have followed my blog for a long time, you will know that since Lukas was born he has had an amazing bond with his Oupa.  While we were at the restaurant I snapped this photo of Lukas and his Oupa with my just says so much about their relationship.  Moments like these must be documented and I when I saw the papers in the October Hip Kit I knew the colour combination would be perfect to tell this story.

Supply list:  Patterned paper: Simple Stories (Posh), Dear Lizzie (Saturday); Cardstock: American Craft; Letter stickers: American Craft Thickers (Dream); Wood Veneer: WeR Memory Keepers, Studio Calico (stars); Chipboard heart: Pink Fresh Studio; Gold Stars: Maggie Holmes; Brads: My Minds Eye, Echo Park; Clear Stickers: Simple Stories; Enamel dots: Studio Calico; Die cuts; WeR Memory Keepers, Crate, Simple Stories; Embroidery Floss: DMC Variegated; Mist: Prima Color Bloom (Tea Stain); Template: Crafters Workshop;  Dies: Quickutz nesting stars; Punch: Fiskars.

Some close ups:
I stitched along the scalloped  green borders.  I love the way the misting just breaks the white background.

I stitched around my circle and then layered the star and wood veneer over the circle.

I just love the pops of gold around the page.

I painted the white title thickers with this light brown paint and added the wood veneer ampersand from the WeR Memory Keepers wood veneers.

Friendship - Hip Kits

Hi there.  I hope you had a stunning weekend.  Summer has arrived at last and I am loving the warmer weather.  The whole of South Africa is however gripped in severe drought and at this point I would welcome the rain.  This weekend I finally killed my April, May and June Hip Kits.  I made a special page to celebrate a special friendship...and scrapping a page with this friend would just not be right if there isn't a little bit of mixed media somewhere...and heat embossing too :)

Here is my page:
Supply list:  Patterned papers: Jen Hadfield, Hip Kit Exclusives, Simple stories; Cardstock: American Craft; Gold word phrases: DIY Shop; Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios, Celebr8; Flowers: Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Brads: Simple Stories; Flair: Hip Kit Exclusive; Enamel heart: Illustrated faith; Enamel dots: My Minds Eye: Acrylic arrow and arrow heads: Hip Kit Exclusives; Die cuts: Hip Kit Exclusives, Shimelle; Other Mediums: Finnabiar 3D matt gel, Mica gold powder, Ranger Emboss It; Embossing powder: Tsukineko, Lindy's; Stencil: Prima; Doily from my stash.

I used this sketch by Brenda Ragsdale:

Some close ups:
The flowers are by Cocoa Vanilla, the leaves by Celebr8 and the cute acrylic pieces are Hip Kit Exclusives.

The little tags were part of the Shimelle Starshine ephemera pack.

I love the sparkly bits in the stenciling.

I can't do a page with Cariena that doesn't include some mixed media and heat embossing.

I heat embossed with a mixture of gold and slate grey...and I love how the colours mixed.

Celebrate those special friendships!  Thank you for visiting my blog today ♥♥
