The Best things in Life are not Things - Celebr8

Hi there,  It has been more than a month since I attended the Celebr8 Technique Event in Benoni.  This weekend I spent some time getting some of the elements taught in CarienĂ¡'s class onto a page.  We used a lot of Twinkling H2O paints...and I love the riot of colour that is created.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Celebr8; Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard: Celebr8; Balsa Wood ruler: Celebr8; Beads: Celebr8;  Paint:  Twinkling H2O's, Stencil: The Crafters Workshop; Gear Die: Memory Box.

Some close ups:

I love the effect of all the bright colours makes me happy.  I used a lot of Anita's clear gloss and then sprinkled the beads over it...simple and effective.

Celebr8 has the best chipboard titles...and with a bit of paint, mist or glitter you can transform them.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Hope to see you again soon.♥♥

Smiles - April Hip Kit

Hi there,  this has been a long week.  Kobus came down with the flu last week and after a course of antibiotics and not listening to the doctor and getting into bed he was even sicker by this past Monday.  So it was back to the doctor and he prescribed a course of Ketec and told my darling man that if he isn't better by this weekend he will have to hospitalise him.  That got his attention and he spent this week in bed.  So today I can see that he is so much better and I just so thankful.

I got stuck into my older Hip Kits while I was waiting for the June and July kits to arrive.  I have so many photos to scrap that I had to start somewhere and that was with all the photos I took on Stefan's 4th birthday when all my grandchildren were together.  The cousins can never get enough of each other.

Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  April Hip Kit exclusives: Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard:  Celebr9 (title); Wood Veneer: Simple Stories, Studio Calico; Die Cuts; Shimelle; Stickers: Shimelle; Rubber Embellishments: Pink Fresh Studios; Twine: Simple Stories; Embroidery Floss: DMC; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Ranger; Stamps: Prima; Stencil: Tim Holtz; Embossing Powder: American Craft (Zing) Other: Silhouette Cameo.

The Laura Whitaker sketch

Some close ups:
I first traced around my die cut star for the placement then I prepared the background with stencils, inks and stamps

I stitched along the inside and outside of the star.

I cut the tag from some kraft paper and then added my inked title to it.

I love the funny faces the boys makes when Ouma's camera is spotted.

A sprinkling of stars around the page.

The gold embossing on the stars don't show up very well on the photos.

Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope that you are inspired to go and create ♥♥

Special Moments - Celebr8 Chit Chat

Hi there,  so happy to be able to share another page with you using the Celebr8 Chit Chat collection.  I used another photo taken on Stefan's birthday.  I was taking a photo of Lukas with his daddy Wynand when Leane decided to photobomb the photo....I love my family.

Here is my page:
Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Celebr8 Chit Chat; Cardstock: American Craft; Letter Stickers: Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type; Wood Veneer: Cocoa Vanilla Studio, Studio Callico; Chipboard: Blue Fern Studio (title), Die cuts: Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Embroidery Floss: DMC;  Ink; Dew Drop; Stamp: Celebr8; Punch: Ek Success.

Some close ups:
I matted the patterned papers to create some extra dimension and inked the Chipboard title.

I stamped the little tag and stitched circles.

The stars that was in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio (Totally Rad) ephemera pack was perfect to add to the circle.

I layered another Cocoa Vanilla Studio star over the label die cut.  I popped all the stars onto foam dots.

Splash - April Hip Kit

Hi there.  I have been scrapping since 2004 and I have scraplifted, copied and tried each new trend.  I tried my hand at all the mixed media and have come to the conclusion that I will never be able to make peace with pages that buckle.  After all these years I have finally found my groove.  I still do mixed media but only if I stay in control.  (Must be the control freak in me).  So a bit of misting through a stencil, some controlled inking and PanPastels will be what I use to jazz up my backgrounds.

I made this page using another of Laura Whitaker's sketches.  The photos of Stefan and Juan splashing in the rock pools of Sardinia Bay was taken on Fathers Day when we had a family brunch on the beach.

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Hip Kit exclusives; Cardstock: American Craft; Letter Stickers: American Craft; Wood Veneer:  Studio Calico, Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Enamel stars:  Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Stickers and die cuts: Cocoa Vanilla Studio, Hot air balloon: Shimelle: Embroidery floss: DMC; Mist: Prima Bloom; Stencil: Prima.

The sketch:

Some close ups:
I first sprayed the mist through a stencil onto my background.  Then added my patterned papers.

I stitched the squares with DMC variegated floss.

I stuck the clear hot air balloon sticker onto white cardstock...and popped it up with pop dots.

Stars seem to be my favourite embellishment when it comes to boy pages.

Thank you for visiting my blog...I hope that I could provide you with a bit of inspiration.♥♥

Sweet Friends - June Hip Kit - Stuck!?

Hallo there.  I never knew that your heart's capacity to love can expand with each grandchild that is born.  Sometimes my heart just feels so full when I look at the ones who have my whole heart.  Wynand took these photos of Lukas on their small holding recently.

Lukas turned 8 in June...isn't he a handsome young man...just look at those dimples.

Lukas never gets bored with his own company.

He loves to play with his farm animals and his car collection.

I wonder what is going through that head when he is so busy playing.

Today I am playing along with Stuck!? Sketches latest challenge.,,and I am using one of the photos of Lukas taken on the day the photos above was taken.  This is my first page with the June kit and I always find cutting into a new kit challenging...not knowing what I love most.

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Hip Kit Exclusives, Pink Paislee, Simple Stories; Alpha letters: Jillibean Soup; Wood Veneer: Jillibean Soup, Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios; Brads: Simple Stories; Enamel dots: Simple Stories; Die Cuts: Hip Kit Exclusives; Puffy stickers: Hip Kit Exclusives; Embroidery Floss: DMC; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink; Stencil: Crafters Workship; Stamps: Prima; Texture Paste: Daler Rowney; Embossing Powder: Lindy's Stamp Gang.

Here is Laura's sketch:

Some close ups:

I cut the Blue Fern Studio's "Seeing Stars" chipboard apart, painted it and then heat embossed it.

I added some frames to my layers.  I love stitching on my pages...if you haven't noticed ;-)

I also used some corrugated board for extra texture.  I used one of the project life cards above the photo.

A little bit of mixed media behind my title.

Love how this one turned out.

Every day is an Adventure - Creative Scrappers

Hi there.  Today I am playing along with Creative Scrappers August sketch.  I used some photos of Dewan taken on a recent family photo shoot and got a cut file from the Cut Shoppe...which I backed with My Minds Eye Now and Then Collection.  Here is my page:

Here is the sketch:

Just two close ups:

I popped up the die cut background on foam tape to give it some dimension.

A wonderful opportunity to use up some older stash.

Capture the Moment - April Hip Kit

Hi there, I am trying to use up my April Hip Kit.  My June kit has been stuck at Customs for the past two frustrating.  Last Sunday we were on our way out when Kobus Jr, Lache and the children came around on the corner on roller blades.  We ended up sitting there on the curb for an improptu "kuier".  I took some photos with my iPhone.

Needless to say Bella was the Belle of the Ball.

 Father and son.

 Oupa and grandson :)

 Leane and Bella.

We ended up going back inside for coffee.

Here is the page of Leane and Bella.
Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Elle's Studio; Amy Tangerine:  Cardstock:  American Craft; Wood Veneer (you & me):  Prima; Flowers: Petaloo; Enamel dots: My Minds Eye; Clear stickers: Shimelle; Butterflies: Maggie Holmes Bloom;  Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink; Stencil: Prima; Other: Silhouette Studio.

I inked onto my background through a Prima Stencil.  Love the controlled mixed media.

I cut the butterflies from a Maggie Holmes Bloom paper.

I love that I could add the green onto the layout using ink without it being messy.

The leaves were cut with the Silhouette Cameo.

Thank you for visiting my blog today ♥♥

Awesome - Celeb8 Chit Chat

Hi there friends.  I am still in the process of trying to post each of the pages that I have created in the time that I haven't been please bear with me.  I am sharing one of my most recent pages today.  While I was at the Celebr8 technique event in Benoni I was pleased to find the new Chit Chat collection designed by Kim Watson in our goodie box.  This week I found the time to begin playing with it.  Here is one of my pages using some photos of Juan and Stefan taken on Stefan's 4th birthday:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Celebr8 Chit Chat; Cardstock; American Craft; Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios;  Wood Veneer:  Cocoa Vanilla Studio (gears), Jillibean Soup (awesome title); Flair: Adri du Preez; Buttons: Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Enamel stars: Cocoa Vanilla Studio;  Die Cuts: Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Embroidery floss: DMC; Paint: Iris Acrylic; Ink: Memento; Stamps: Celebr8; Punch: Fiskars; Other: Silhouette Cameo.

I have rediscovered the pleasure of working with Laura Whitaker's sketches:

Some close ups:
I cut the big ampersand with my silhouette cameo and then stitched around was then popped up on foam tape of dimension.

The square chipboard frame is by Blue Fern Studios and painted grey with acrylic paint.

I cut a tag from the cut apart sheet of the Chit Chat collection and used the twine and string in the embellishment pack.  I found that the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Totally Rad collection's embellishments worked perfectly with this Celebr8 collection.
