Lekker!!! - CSI189 - a few birthday photos

Hallo there, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Before I show the page I made this weekend for the Color Story Inspiration Case file 189...I want to share a few photos that was taken on my birthday.  I decided to have all my chicks and their chicks over for supper and cooked a big "Sunday" roast.  It was lovely to sit outside on this balmy evening chatting while the children were playing in and around the pool.

My two gorgeous have no idea how great it feels to get tight hugs from these two.

 Wynand and Nadia.

 Kobus and Lache.

My girly and I...very difficult to get her in a photo.

My darling man.

Okay then...let me show you the page I made for the current challenge on Color Story Inspiration.  I used a photo that was taken on 2 January 2016 at our favourite market outside Plettenberg Bay.

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  Jillibean Soup; Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard: Celebr8;; Brads: My Minds Eye, Teresa Collins; Enamel dots: My Minds Eye, Teresa Collins; Felt tree: Pebbles; Cork: Studio Calico; Camera: Marion Smith, Ink: Rub On: Basic Grey; Colorbox; Mist: Lindy's Stamp Gang, Dies: (lollipop flower) Sizzix.; Glitter glue:  Gunsmoke Stickles; Sketch: Allison Davis.

The case file:

This is how I solved this case:

The Scheme:  All the colours used.

Evidence:  gingham, circles, leaves, enamel dots, cork, splatters, rub-ons.

Testimony:  Document something about food.  I used the descriptive Afrikaans word "Lekker"and scattered my journaling that reads as follows:  "When in the area of Plettenberg Bay we always make a point of visiting the Harkerville Saturday market for their Full Monty or Half Monty breakfast.  On Saturday 2 January 2016 while camping with Wynand and Nadia at Keurbooms River we made the short trip and spent a memorable morning under the trees at this unique little market."

Some close-ups:
The scroll chipboard was just inked with Colorbox Creamy Brown ink, the title was painted and then treated to some Gunsmoke can see the old Basic Grey rub on peeking out behind the tree.

I love this bright and happy papers...and this cute little quote was perfect for this page.

I love working with Allison Davis and Scrapbook Generation sketches...and always adapt them to suit my own style of scrapping.

The little two banner and brad was part of the My Minds Eye Lost and Found collection.

I love the lollipop flowers, they seem to go with any page...and you can see the little skeleton leaves behind the flower.

The little cork camera is by Studio Calico and the metal and bling camera is by Marion Smith...I found the cute little teapot brad by My Minds Eye hidden in my stash.

Thank you for your visit and for your kind words of encouragement ♥

Relax - CSI 188 - Teresa Collins

Hallo there, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Today I am playing along with Color Story Inspiration's Case file 188.  I dug deep into my stash and found a few very old Teresa Collins papers that matches the colour scheme perfectly.  At the end of November last year we camped with Wynand and Nadia and the boys in the Baviaans Kloof...and a lot of time was spent cooling down in the river. Emma Stafrace' sketch was perfect to showcase some of these moments.

Here is my page:

Supplies list:  Patterned papers:  Teresa Collins:  Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard Title: Celebr8; Sequins:  stash; Bee Charm: Tim Holtz; Buttons; Basic Grey; Metal bird: Teresa Collins; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink; Leavy diecut:  Silhouette Cameo.  Dies: Quikutz nesting dies.

The Case file and sketch:

This is how I solved the case file:

The Scheme: All 5 colors used.

Evidence: Stripes, animals, sun (sunburst stencil in yellow behind the photos), dangle (arrow below bee), buttons, triangles.

Testimony: I stacked my journaling.

Some close ups:
I made some lollipop flowers using my nested circles dies.

I added stenciling to my background with sunburst stencil and triangle stencil.

A sprinkling of sequins, a bee with a dangle arrow hanging beneath it.

Thank you for looking and leaving a bit of love ♥

The Voice of the Sea speaks to the Soul - Celebr8

When I first saw the release of Celebr8's Sea Treasures I was totally in love.  You know me...I love the beach and everything that goes with it wasn't rocket science that this was a collection that I "needed".  The collection was inspired by the talented Glenda Viljoen and when I saw her beautiful pages I told her how much I loved it, and promptly paid money into her account to get my hands on the awesome kit.  Last weekend I started playing with the paper and closely followed her instructions for the background of the first page...then I used artistic license and made it more me.  I used a A4 size photo of our "happy place"in Plettenberg Bay.  Here is my page:

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Celebr8 Sea Treasures; Cardstock: American Craft; Chipboard:  Celebr8; Bling: Celebr8; Flowers: Celebr8; Ink:  Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Distress Markers and Stickles; Shells from my stash.

I love that Celebr8 have taken our love for matching embellishments into account.  The fabric flowers and shell stamp sets are all part of the collection.  The shells were stamped and then coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Markers.

I first covered the chipboard in a layer of Gesso and then coloured the words with Distress Markers...and added some stickles because girls need a bit of sparkle.

The layered chipboard is delicate and was also first covered with gesso and then coloured and a bit of stickles added.

 Love the sparkle.

I am impressed with my colouring in of the shells...they look good...even if I say so myself.

 Salty kisses ♥

 Sandy toes♥

The Scrapbook Generation CREATE magazine have come to an end and I no longer design for any teams.  At the moment I am enjoying just scrapping for my pleasure.

The weekend that was - Seaview Lion Park

This past weekend we all took it slow.  I spent Saturday playing with paper, glue and glitter (a girl must have some sparkle)  Here is a little glimpse of what I am working on. The page is inspired by a page kit by Glenda Viljoen...and as usual I deviated a tad.(artistic license?)

We are trying to do something out of our normal routine each weekend.  This weekend we decided to take Stefan to the Seaview Lion Park on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth.

They have other wild animals as well...I love zebras.

I love the sea in the background of this photo...the wild and the beach...the best of both worlds.

A close up of this mama.

 Mama with her babe.

 The cute baby giraffe

We arrived at feeding time...and the lions stormed up the slope to where the food was placed...

...and then swiftly dragged it away to go and eat in peace.

A photo of the four of us.

Stefan was in awe of the great creatures.

It always saddens me to see wild animals in captivity.  They were born to be free.

The siberian tiger is so obviously out of place in our hot weather.

Stefan and Bianca are equally camera here is helping me capture his mama.

I love this one of them...even with his "cheesy" smile.

...and one of the two of us.

Now I am off to go and finish that page.  I will post another scrappy post later this week.

Time is a great Storyteller - CSI187 - Kaisercraft Time Machine

Hi there dear friends...I am slowly getting back to a normal routine.  Last weekend I made a point of getting creative and found the Color Story Inspiration case files very inspiring to get going again.  I played along with this month's major case file.  It was fun digging through my stash to find all the little bits and bobs needed as evidence...and here is my page.

Supplies used:  Patterned paper:  Kaisercraft Time Machine; Cardstock:  American Craft; Chipboard:  Blue Fern Studios; Wood Veneer:  Prima; Flowers: Flair; Adri du Preez; Die cuts: Kaisercraft Time Machine; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Color Box Chalk Ink; Paint: Gesso, Neocolor II; Stamps: Prima; Clock Die:  Silhouette Cameo.

The Case File:

A few close ups:
Here you can see the stamping on my background...and the hearts that is required as evidence.

 Loads of clocks and cogs.

I brought the burgundy into my pages by cutting a photo mat and adding the little burgundy flowers to my chipboard.  The chipboard was first covered in a layer of gesso and then colored using Neocolor II watersoluble crayons.

I love circle elements on my pages and I really went to town with this one...adding some wood veneer and stickers to compliment the theme.

Thank you for visiting my blog...hope you are having a lovely weekend xx

Unpacking my word for 2016 - GRACE

Hi there to all my friends in the computer.  I wish you a wonderful, joy filled 2016.  I am shocked to see that more than a month has passed since my last post. December was a hectic month in the Jacobs household and I have captured many of the moments and will do a photo post of December in photos soon.   There has been times in the past month that I have seriously considered throwing in the towel with blogging and just closing it down.  My time is often times limited and I have to decide whether to blog or to create...the pressure of keeping up with all my friends sometimes becomes a burden and when I see the length of my Bloglovin unread sometimes scares me.  But here goes to continuing on this journey.

My word for 2016:

GRACE defined: (noun)
  1. The exercise of love, kindness, or good will; disposition to benefit or serve another.
  2. The divine favour towards man; the undeserved kindness of forgiveness of God; divine love or pardon.
  3. Beauty, physical, intellectual, or moral; easy elegance of manners; perfection of form.
In this past year I have been hurt by those I didn't expect would ever hurt me...those who are the closest to me.  The first reaction when that happens is either to lash out and pay in kind or to withdraw and start building walls to keep yourself from getting hurt.

If I choose to lash out I will end up not liking myself and alienating those that I really, really love.

If I choose to withdraw and build walls to protect myself against hurt, I will lose out on the love that I would have received if I stayed open and receptive to those around me.

This year's word is something that I cannot do in my own strength...I am going to need the Lord's power to extend grace to those who hurt me and those who I come into contact with.  I cannot love them in my own strength when they don't deserve it. I want to flow in grace and forgiveness.  I want to share this beautiful song with you.

Grace is undeserved love that benefits or serves another.

Grace is kindness and forgiveness even when they don't deserve it.

Grace is a choice and a challenge.

Grace will keep away bitterness.

Thank you for reading♥
Do you have one little word to live by this year?
Please share it with me♥
