Love you - CREATE March 2015

Hi there.  I know I have been missing in action these past two weeks. Life has a way of happening and sometimes it just runs away with you. The past two weekends were busy.  We had a three day scrap event with Svetlana Austin....it was awesome, I love her style.  I will soon show you all the projects that was made over the weekend.  This past weekend I flew down to Cape Town to spend some time with my sister.  Sometimes we have to choose to live life to the full each moment and not to worry too much about the cyber happenings...so I have marked my Bloglovin feed as read and will hopefully catch up with you as you publish new posts.

Today I am sharing my last page that was published in the CREATE March magazine. Remember this magazine is free for download HERE and you can download the free sketches HERE. Today I want to share the layout I made based on the card sketch.  I used a photo taken of me with 5 of my grandchildren.  Of the over 30 photos taken, this was the only usable one...you need hair on your teeth to get them all to look towards the camera...and not move.

Supply list:  Patterned papers: Teresa Collins; Cardstock: American Craft; Flowers: Prima; Veneer; Prima; Brads: Teresa Collins; heart sequins: Teresa Collins; Texture Paste: Daler-Rowney;  Acrylic paint: Iris; Stencil: Crafters Workshop; Hearts die cut and title: Silhouette Studio.

Some close ups:
A little flower cluster is always needed on a page.

I used a Crafters Workshop stencil and some coloured texture paste on the background.  I wanted to bring in a bit of yellow to go with the stamens on the patterned paper.  The title was cut with the Silhouette Cameo.

The hearts mat was also cut with the Silhouette Cameo and purchased from Ashley Horton's Cut Shoppe.  I sprinkled some sequin hearts across the page.

Go and get your own copy of the CREATE magazine and be inspired by all the awesome projects.

XOXO - Sketchabilities - Kaiserkraft Blue Bay

Hi there.  I hope you are all doing well.  I am looking forward to a scrapping event in Jeffreysbay that starts on Thursday.  The classes will be hosted by Svetlana Austin and we have been blog friends for years...she has shared in my joys and in  my heartache during this time and I believe we have become real friends.  I can't wait to meet her in real life.

That said, I want to share a layout with you that I made with scraps of an album class I recently attended.  I am playing along with Sketchabilities latest sketch challenge.  I am in love with this colour scheme.  Here is my page using a photo of my grandchildren Leane and Juan that was taken at a photo shoot in February last year.

Supply list:  Patterned paper:  Kaisercraft (Blue Bay); Cardstock:  American Craft; Letter stickers:
Basic Grey; Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios; Pearls: Fabscraps; Gold dots: Unknows; Flower: Prima; Metal flower: Flying Unicorn; Tags:  Prima (Seashore); Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain & Peacock Feathers), Dewdrop Brilliance (Coffee Bean & Galaxy Gold), Colorbox Chestnut Roan; Mists: Lindy's Stamp Gang (Time travel teal), Studio 490 Gesso, Studio 490 Crackled texture paste; Stamp: Bo Bunny; Stencil: Prima.

The sketch:

Some close ups:
I love how well the Prima Seashore and the Kaisercraft Blue Bay go together to make some yummy layers.

I first coloured these chipboard Basic Grey alphas with Coffee bean ink and then rubbed some galaxy gold over it...and I added a metal flower (cut in two) behind the flower and some pearls to the scallops.

I little flower cluster.  I first dabbed gesso onto the flower and then sprayed it with the mist to achieve the correct colour I wanted.

Thank you for visiting.  Your comments mean so much to me.

Laugh often..Love Much..Live Well - CREATE

Hello there.  Scrapbook Generation's March digital magazine, CREATE has published and is available for download HERE.  You can also download all the free sketches HERE.  Today I want to share my take on the theme challenge this month.  We could make a layout based on a "friends" or "spring" theme.  I decided to document a mini vacation that I had with two of my friends.  Here is my double page based on one of the Scrapbook Generation sketches:

Supply list:  Patterned papers:  American Craft; Cardstock: American Craft; Enamel dots: My Minds Eye; Brads: My Minds Eye; Veneer: Studio Calico, Prima; Flowers: Prima; Chipboard Title: Scrap Collections (local South African company); Embroidery Floss: DMC.

Some Close ups:
I love this vibrant American Craft Amy Tangerine "Stitch" collection.  Shayne, Rina and I met at the Durban airport in May 2013 and traveled to San Lameer where we spent 5 days.  Needless to say it wasn't long enough.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time together.

All three of us love taking photos...so our cameras were constant companions.

Whenever I do a double page I realise how much I enjoy it and that it tells the whole story, unlike a single page layout.

Please download CREATE and be inspired by the awesome pages made by the team.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Stefan's 3rd birthday

Stefan turned 3 on 30 March and last Saturday we held a party for him, his cousins and his friends.  I can't tell you how much this little man means to us.  We love our grandchildren equally...but having a little one grow up in your home sure makes a difference.

When our first grandchild, Leane, was born several years ago...we changed our garden to a children's paradise and it is now the ideal party venue.

Bianca decided to invite only the cousins and the friends he plays with at school...that made it eight children plus their parents.

Each child's box was packed and ready and just in case you missed it (tongue in cheek) the theme was spiderman ;-)

The friends arrived and the boys do what boys do...

...and investigated the watering system....

...and drove on the motorbikes like maniacs...

When all the friends arrived the little ones sat at the table for about 5 minutes :-P

The Spider man cake.

We sang and he blew out his candles...note the bottle of bubbles in his hand.

...and then he proceeded to blow bubbles all over the cake.

It would seem that a jumping castle don't work so well for this age group...but Oupa sure enjoyed it.

Juan....my other soon to be 3 year old.

Much enjoyment on the trampoline...

...and in the tree house.

In fact the tree house was such a hit that Stefan took his chair and box and up the steps he moved.

My beautiful Leane...

I am blessed with very handsome grandchildren...even if I say so myself.

Much laughter and some tears too.

Partners in crime...ALWAYS.

I had to save them from each other.  They wanted the same toy and got into a fist fight and both ended up crying.

...but they kissed and made up...and by the time Lache came to fetch him...he was hiding in the garden with Stefan.  Precious moments recorded.
