My home is still very much a work in process. Today I will show you how bringing light into a room transforms the whole mood and style of a room.
This is a close up of what the entrance hall looks like at the moment.
Before we painted the face brick wall.
After we painted the face brick wall.
The view of the entrance hall from outside our front door. The walls have been plastered and painted in a soft grey. The wooden entrance doors have had the same treatment. Shock and horror for those who hate the idea of painting wood.
The entrance hall cupboard was bought from a Bali import shop in Plettenberg Bay. I love the intricate details.
This was our formal lounge. We never, ever used it. The old ball and claw furniture was inherited from Kobus' parents and the room was just too crowded for my taste.
You can see the nguni skin hidden underneath the coffee table.
It had a very heavy and dated look.
We passed the ball and claw furniture to my brother-in-law...that way it stays in the family.
I found two very pretty wing back chairs at Mr Price Home. They compliment the leather couches perfectly. The orange curtains were replaced with neutral colours and the blinds replaced with creme blinds.
The dark coffee table was given a lick of paint and a darker leather carpet was placed underneath it.
Two pretty leather framed mirrors from Coricraft.
The wall behind the wall unit was painted duck egg blue. Now Kobus and I have our own private lounge where we get to choose what we want to watch....no more Paw Patrol, Ninja Turtles or Bubble Guppies for us ;-P
