Scenes from the Santa Shoebox party at the Mission

I would love to show you some photos that I took at the Santa Shoebox party last Saturday.  The Santa Shoebox Project  is spearheaded by the founder of Kidz2Kidz, Dee Boehner, the Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town in 2006, with national coordinator Irene’ Pieters joining in 2007. Many of you know of the project, are involved in the organisation of it and pledge boxes each year.   I know many of you are actively involved in either the organisation or pledging boxes.

I want to share with you the other side of things.
The happy faces of the little ones who receive these gifts.

We have a rule at the Mission....nobody opens gifts until everybody have received theirs...if we don't do this chaos reigns.  You can feel the excitement as they wait.  When every one has a gift they all open it at the same time.

Thank you for giving this children a day to remember.  Thank you for the love and care shown in the packing of each box.

xoxo

  3. Awesome Awesome Awesome. It's good to see recipients of such kindness. Sad I couldn't do it this year. It always brings me so much joy choosing recipients and packing the boxes.

  8. Lovely photos!! It's great! BTW - thanks for the comment on my blog. I iron my pages ilke this - The paper gets saturated with water and then mists, it's then dried completely in the sunlight, I then iron the paper with paper towels on each side on a flat surface (set on high) and then I put the paper under a heavy weight for a day or too. I do a few pages a time and store the ones I don't use away. Hope that helps! :D
