Life in South Africa according to the cartoonist.

I think one of the things I love about this country and the people is our ability to laugh at ourselves and make fun of, sometimes serious problems. That way we can still appreciate the lighter side of life without becoming depressed.

I leave you with, hopefully, a smile:)

  1. Ha ha.
    Love them -mostly.

The train one is a little too close for comfort though. Poor Rumby saw a man die on the tracks yesterday when he tried to get onto the train as it was pulling out of the station and fell.
congrats on the year of blogging.
I love "touching base" with your little home in cyberspace.

  2. Excellent! Made me laugh. It's sad but so true. I guess it's better to laugh than cry about things. Neither will make it better in any case! :)

  3. SA is a cartoonists dream!
And Zapiro is one of the best - thanks for this.

I feel quite proud of the SAfrican's ability to turn our worst nightmares into something to laugh about . . .
Its a sort of national trait - and there's something brave about it

  4. Dankie vir die lekker lag ... ja nee dis al hoe ons gaan oorleef in SA.
    Mooi bly

  5. I love Zapiro1 There is so much of his work that we never get to see. my daughter did a project on him in matric and e-mailed him, not thinking that he would ever reply, but he did and he helped her so much! He is an amazing and humble man with the best sense of humour.
I don't know if we should worry about the fact that we find some of his work funny.

  6. That is so funny..
    Thanks for the laugh

  7. Oh yes - sure can relate to that bunch! The sense of humour thing appliesto all over Africa I think - can you imagine if we didn't have one here? I'd have died from depression long's what makes us able to's not that we are not really taking these things seriously & don't understand their's because we do that we have to make light of it or we'd be crying all day ;-(

  8. bwahahahaha! Funny,funny,funny! And sometimes true....x
