Cupcakes and Coffee class

Today is a public holiday in South I had time to complete the half finished projects I am doing in this online class with Wilna Furstenburg. I find the class fun and inspiring and it is taking me out of my comfort zone to do projects that I would not even normally contemplate doing. If you read my paper cup woe' will know what a mission it was to find the perfect cup...and yes I found this one at Woolies. I then painted around the edges and added glitter for bling. Then the picture and the little cupcake from Jolee's Boutique was the perfect accent.
I have not added my photos to this album...we are leaving for our annual time share week at the Beacon Isle Hotel in Plettenberg Bay on Saturday. We will be meeting up with my sister, Ansie and her hubby Willie. We are planning to have a lot of out a lot and drink plenty of coffee. So I am keeping this album for pics taken during our week in Plett.

In the centre of my little cup album I put a printed paper heart and some vellum with the following word art on it: "I love COFFEE, I love TEA, I love this JAVA JIVE and it loves me.

This album was supposed to be made with the sleeve of a Starbucks cup...I made my cover out of handmade paper with a lovely texture. I am going to use this little album as a brag book of my sweet little cupcake grandchildren. It is so small that it will fit perfectly into a ziplock bag in my handbag.

I used Wilna's paintings and printed it out in A3 size on Canson paper. This had its own little problems. The moment the paper touched the glue it started making bubbles and crinkling. Thumbs Down Fortunately I spoke to Caro before I ripped it off. She told me to leave it because it should dry fine....and it did...thank you Caro!!!! When the glue dried I dabbed the pictures with Modge Podge to seal it. I dabbed it because the ink ran when I tried to paint it. Then it made bubbles again and the moment it is still lying in the sun. When I have decided where I am going to hang it, I will know what colour to paint the edges...and I want to slightly distress it. You will see I have 4 pictures, Wilna was kind enough to send me a JPEG of the coffee cup picture...she is so sweet. Cupcake

Did I tell you that I am square...well I I am making my mirror album square...I used the cupcakes picture from the cup album. But now the question do we fill the spaces between the little mirror tiles?

Can't wait for the next class that starts at 4'o clock this afternoon. If you have suggestions about how I should cover the spaces between the mirror tiles, please leave a comment. Just take into consideration that the mirror tiles are pasted onto chipboard.

Thanks for your visit.

A brand new week

Last night a young man sang this Vineyard song in our little church at touched me deeply...just knowing... no matter how I feel...that I am forgiven and that He has an amazing love for me...and you!!!! It just fills my heart with so much gratitude for what He has done.

Your amazing love

Whisper in my ear
Tell me one more time
The words I long to hear,
that I am forgiven
Hold me in Your arms
Draw me next to You
Safely by Your side,
I know that I am forgiven

And I will never truly know
just why You love me Lord
I am so broken and so desperate
Still You love me more Lord,
I love Your amazing love
There's beauty in the way
You cherish and embrace me
In all my brokenness,
I know that I am forgiven

And I lift my hands
In worship at your throne
And I raise my heart
So thankful Lord
for what You've done.

I hope you have a blessed week!

Mini albums galore!!!

I can tell you, I have been cracking myself up during this class. First I had to find a sturdy large paper cup. When I was unsuccessful I downloaded Wilna's scanned cup...needless to say the moment I touched it with my watercolour paint, it collapsed. Hubby was home by then and I told him of my we jumped in the car and went on a paper cup raid...we stopped at every and any 24 hour service station and take away and was greeted with astonishment and amusement by many of the attendants...the result 7 paper cups and only one the right size...but who wants to make a album in a "Steers" paper cup. Seriously!!!!

So yesterday I visited Mugg and Bean, they only had a foam cup...but I am stubborn so I thought I will make it when I folded it, it snapped in! Back to the drawing board...I have now re-printed the scanned cup on matte photo paper...but I want the real thing Rolling Eyes . So today I am going to check out Woolies for a cup...then hopefully I will be able to put it all together tonight. So I am placing a few photo's for you to have a good giggle at my expense.

Here you see my cups, my snapped Mugg and Bean cup and the undesirable Steers cup. ROTFL

Here you can see how far I have come with my two sweet little albums...I am planning to keep the coffee cup album to fill with photos of our vacation in Plettenberg Bay where we are going next week. My little sleeve album I am going to use for photos of my sweet grandchildren. You will also see that I did not use the sleeve but made my cover out of handmade textured paper...I will keep you updated with my progress.
And just to show you I have actually completed a lovely family mini album before. Here is pics of my beautiful Circle album. I can post the step-by-step for this on my blog if you girls are interested.

If you are interested in the tutorial for this, just leave me a comment.
Big Hug

Personal Scrapper April layouts I have now finished my April 2008 kit....looks like I am now no longer collecting kits I am actually scrapping. Laugh The April kit was a mixture of Crate Paper: Static and Fancy Pants: About a Boy. This was again a challenge for choice of colours to scrap is usually earthy colours not brights...but I must say I really enjoy a challenge...and my albums look more interesting. Other than that I am getting the chance to complete layouts with some of my older photos. So here goes:

These first two layouts were of photos taken at my brother-in-law's 50th birthday party. The theme was Rock and Roll and nearly everybody dressed the we were mostly hippies...but what 70year old mom was such a sport even she and my dad dressed up...I was so proud of them.

The next layout is with photos of Bianca bathing(?) Tinkie her dog. The pics were taken in 2001 and Bianca is now 19 years old...we should take more photos of our kids doing the "everyday" things...we tend to forget the details so easily. She insisted on getting into the clam with the dog during the bathing process...not a "dirty job" but a "wet job".

Bianca in 1997...Growing up to fast.

My sister, Herlien, and her children came to visit when one of our cousins got married. Don't you think cousins make the very best friends?
These pictures were taken in October 1995 on the weekend the Springboks won the World Cup against France. We watched it while on Holiday at Pine Lake Marina on the Garden Route near Knysna.
Thank you for visiting and leave some love....

A few of my recent layouts

You all know... that we always think our children and our grandchildren are the greatest...I want to introduce you to my wonderful grandchildren. In February this year Wynand married the love of his life, Nadia...and we became instant grand parents to Christian...we have known him from when he was still in nappies and loved him to bits....don't you think he is cute?
Here is playing with my daughter Bianca...he loves to wrestle...and usually keeps on at the game until he wins. :)

This is my son Kobus and his wife, Lache's little one, Leane...these pics were taken on her dedication.

Another layout of Leane...she is so cute....this grandma just loves her to bits!

Bianca and girls are so cute!!!

Pictures of Wynand and Nadia's little one, Lukas, shortly afther his birth. (the meaning of his name is "bringer of light" and he has really brightened our lives...he is now 10 weeks old and has the most gorgeous smile...with dimples in his cheeks.

We are always looking for a reason to baby Lukas is one month old and had his first sleep you can see we did not have much sleep the night before and grandpa and Lukas are getting some zzzzzzz! This was a very poor scraplift of Candice Greenways layout "Counting Sheep"

Thank you for looking and listening to the ramblings of a doting grandma!
